MYANMAR- The United Nations special investigator, Mr. Tom Andrews stated that Vietnam has been the major exporter of aircraft fuel (for the Junta), which is used in carrying out daily aerial bombardments against civilians and revolutionary groups across Myanmar.
Mr. Tom Andrews and the Deputy Minister of the National Unity Government (Mr.)Khon Bahan Thang, NUG representative of Australia: Dr. Tun Aung Shwe reportedly met with the CRPH/NUG Support Group Australia National Team on October 10 in Canberra, Australia.
“We were able to prevent and reduce the sales of weapons and ammunition to Junta regime and would continue to do so. Singapore has reduced its support for the military council by about 90 percent. As Vietnam is major seller of jet fuel to Myanmar, we would urge Vietnam to sanction Junta regime,” said (Mr.) Tom Andrews.
The UN Special Investigator also called for the Australian government to sanction the military group through Universal Jurisdiction.
Tom Andrews also said that the election to be held by the Military Council is being done to perpetuate the power of the military dictatorship and would not be fair. Thus, the international governments need to take action to oppose it.
“Detailed investigation of the companies exporting jet fuel to the Military Council will be conducted. Social pressuring and actions will be taken,” he added.
UN special investigator Mr. Tom Andrews also condemned the Chinese government’s interference in Myanmar affairs.
He said that Japan (Government) called for the reduction of diplomatic relations with the Military Council the at United Nations Human Rights Council.
