MYANMAR – National Unity Government-NUG Prime Minister Mahn Win Khaing Than said that it is time to effectively deal with those who seek self-interest and act against the people and those who violate the law in the revolution against the military dictatorship.
Union Prime Minister Mahn Win Khaing Than said the above-mentioned statement at the Interim Local Public Administration Development Central Committee meeting that was held at 10:00 a.m. on January 2.
Union Prime Minister Mahn Win Khaing Than said, “We will pay special attention to make the various administrative mechanisms of the National Unity Government more people-oriented, disciplined and prioritise the public. From this day on, it is time for relevant ministries to effectively deal with those who are doing actions that don’t serve the people, people who break the law, those who forget the revolution and seek their own interests.”
In the meeting, Union Prime Minister Mahn Win Khaing Than continued that “As everyone has understood, 2025 is very important. We also heard that the people do not trust the NUG government. We must try to overcome those conditions as soon as possible because the reform of the administrative sector is a very important sector for the revolution, it is necessary for all people to work together.”
Currently in the Sagaing Division, what is commonly known as the Three Administrative bodies, Administration, Defense and Security Bodies have committed human rights violations such as setting up checkpoints to demand money. The NUG Prime Minister has often expressed his desire to control those actions.
In the NUG meeting (30/2024) which was held last December 2024, Prime Minister Mahn Win Khaing Than said that “The People Administration Bodies, People Defense Bodies and People Security Bodies needs to be guided according to the policies, and that necessary actions should be taken if required, and that the NUG did not form the Administrative, Defense and Security Bodies without policy.”
