MYANMAR – Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Roy Soemirat said that an ASEAN ministerial meeting on Myanmar affairs will be held in Thailand this month.
The discussion will be held this month and will be held at the invitation of ASEAN Chairman Laos. Mainly, Myanmar, which is under military rule, will be discussed towards the implementation of the 5-point ASEAN common agreement.
At the ASEAN Summit held in Laos on October 9th, leaders from Southeast Asian countries met and sought ways to deal with the worsening crisis in Myanmar. The meeting, the Prime Minister of Thailand proposed to hold a Myanmar dialogue sponsored by the Thai government in December to achieve peace and find a political solution in Myanmar.
At the ASEAN summit held in Laos, ASEAN leaders agreed to keep the five common agreements as the main reference point for solving the political crisis in Myanmar. They also reviewed the implementation of the 5 ASEAN Common Agreements. They agreed that it should be fully implemented with the consent of all the people of Myanmar in order to achieve a long-term peaceful resolution in order to include everyone in solving the Myanmar issue.
The revolutionary forces said that they do not know whether the revolutionary forces will be invited to the discussion on Myanmar issues to be held in Thailand this December.
