KAREN STATE – The Karen National Union (KNU) – Central issued a statement saying that the tactical operation command, Colonel Soe Min Aung, under the junta council, ordered to recruit the new military personnel from the villages in Hlaingbwe township, Karen state. He also threatened the civilians that if the recruits couldn’t get, he would abduct the villagers as porters.
It has been reported that the tactical operation command, Colonel Soe Min Aung, summoned the township and the rural administrators and forcibly demanded for the recruits. The junta council summoned the ward administrative officers from wards A and D in downtown Htaw Xue, Inn No, Thaitpan, Kamawtle, Takhwethpoe, Noekaw, Kwanmaung, Myalay, Tharyarkone, Gyoechaw, Udaung, Tawunhpanya, Kyopako and Takaylo villages to the tactical office and held a meeting for the conscription law and asked for the recruits from the villages. The junta council colonel Soe Min Aung ordered the administrative officers to send the recruits to the tactical office for bath 8 of the military training by December 12.
The junta council asked for a recruit per village. If the village can’t provide a recruit, 3 million mmk must be paid for a recruit. If the ward administrative officers won’t comply, the junta council would abduct the pedestrians as porters.
Following that, the tactical operation command called a special follow-up meeting on the military service issues and ordered the rural areas where it hasn’t sent a recruit yet, to send a recruit per village by December 12.
KNU stated in the statement, saying that as the coup council has forcibly recruited, the civilians are worried and frightened in the Hlaingbwe area.
