MANDALAY DIVISION – An official from Myingyan District Battalion 3 reported that six places stationed by terrorist junta forces in Taungtha including B.E.H.S 1 were attacked, killing ten junta forces and a weapon was also confiscated.
On January 13, around 12:15 p.m., Myingyan District Battalion 3 attacked the 21 junta forces stationed at B.E.H.S 1 and captured it.
Revolutionary forces also delivered the students trapped in the safety battle and while the surviving junta forces escaped after jumping over the wall, ten junta forces were killed and the escaping junta forces were reportedly badly hurt.
On clearing the area, revolutionary forces confiscated one weapon in good condition while the remaining weapons were damaged by RPG shelling. In addition, the room of Wanna Htay, the junta chief for Taungtha Township, was also attacked during the battle and his deputy, Sergeant Aung Min, was killed.
After the battle, revolutionary forces took down the junta flag at B.E.H.S 1 and replaced it with the flag of Myingyan District Battalion 3, Company 2 in a brief ceremony.
Following that, revolutionary forces entered the town and proceeded to attack the junta sentries in front of the town hall and Inwa Bank as well as the motorcycle workshop opened by Pyu Saw Htee leaders Thant Sin and Moe Win, Zagyan Gate at the west entrance of Taungtha and the undershirt factory.
It is said that the junta council suffered casualties in those attacks but the exact number is not yet known.
On the other hand, the terrorist junta council launched airstrikes in the town during the capture of B.E.H.S 1 and the revolutionary forces were said to have retreated from the town to avoid causing harm to the resident civilians.
