KACHIN STATE: It was reported that search and rescue task was stopped after (32) dead bodies including (4) children and (14) women had been found on the ground of the collapse of mud pool at jade digging up farm at Sabolt village, Hpakant township, Kachin state.
The mud pool at Sabolt village was collapsed around 1 a.m. on January 13, which buried (57) houses in village till the mud almost covered the roofs.
Since the morning of January 13, the machine had been used to search and (32) dead bodies were found till the evening of January 15.
“The search was stopped and the path of the village which had been covered by mud was also open to pass,” said by a local civilian.
Among the deceased people, there were (5) children who were under (10) years old. Moreover, there were (14) women and the oldest deceased woman is (89) years old.
There are some people who escaped from the collapse of mud pool. The local civilians expected that there can be over (100) dead at least. Some said that (170) people were missing.
While search and rescue efforts were being performed on the spot of the collapse of the mud pool on January 13, the junta’s council reportedly launched the airstrike on the jade farms in Sankhar and Mazupyan villages, Kachin state on January 13. So the search and rescue operation of the collapse of the mud pool had to be stopped for a few hours. (13) civilians were also known to have been killed by the junta’s airstrike.
