KAYIN STATE – Over 200 forces of junta enemies from A Nann Kwin strategy in A Nann Kwin village, Kyar Inn Sate Gyi Township, the revolutionary forces has been blocking the transportation and the clashes are intensively fighting, according to the announcement on January 5 of Red Dragon Column.
The revolutionary forces have been blocking and the part of Than Phyu Zayet- Phayar Thone Zuu road and the battles are still occur since the spring of 2024, the junta council are facing with the problem of reinforcement and the reinforces columns has been attacked and facing with numerous casualties.
Over 150 junta reinforcement based division (44) LIB (2), IB (2) to A Nann Kwin strategic camp were blocked and attacked by the cooperation attack of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), Red Dragon Column (RDC), Special Operation Force (SOF) on December 30, 2024.
It is said that there was a two-day battle on December 30th and 31st, and the junta council troops were defeated and retreated.
The junta council troops reportedly used heavy artillery and air support to break through the blockade of the revolutionary forces. The attack was carried out by using 155 mm artillery from the No. 4 Advanced Training School, four attacks by two Jet Fighters, bombs dropped by Y-12 aircraft, and 81 mm artillery from the strategic camp.
On January 2, the clashes continued, the junta council reportedly using airstrikes and multiple artillery shells.
The Red Dragon Column reported that 34 members of the junta council died and about 50 were injured during the battle, and that small arms were seized from the junta enemy column.
The small clashes, including drone attacks, were occurring almost daily as the revolutionary coalition forces surrounded and blockaded the A Nann Kwin strategic area, according to the previous report of Ko Hein, a commander of the Red Dragon Column.
The People’s Daily is still in touch with Special Operations Forces (SOF) commander Ko Aung San Shya to ask about the fighting.
The junta council said it is unable to send ground reinforcements and is instead providing food and ammunition from the air line.
