MYANMAR – Local residents reported that they heard explosions from the strand road in Dawei, Tanintharyi Division after oil tankers caught on fire.
Ships loaded with oil caught on fire and exploded near the Strand Road in Dawei around 3:30 p.m. on October 14 and it is said that the fire department was putting out fire there were casualties.
“Oil tankers and boats were on fire at the custom buoy where the junta dogs (junta forces) set up heavy weapons. Maybe the heavy weapons fired to cover the junta column in Launglon backfired, the exact reason for the fire is not known yet,” said a resident.
It is said that junta forces have arrived at the site of the fire and were interrogating the passersby.
Similarly, a freight ship loaded with rice, cement and limestone at Gawwein Port in Seinpan Ward, Maharaungmyay Township of Mandalay also caught on fire around 1:25 p.m. on October 14 following a welding incident and the fire was put out around 3:15 p.m.
