KAREN STATE- The Special Operation Group (S.O.G) column (NUG), which is conducting operations in Karen State with other revolutionary forces, including the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA)was reportedly armed by the National Unity Government (NUG) Ministry of Defense for the first time, on December 7.
The NUG Ministry of Defense agreed to equip half of the soldiers in the SOG column with weapons, and on December 7, twenty percent of the members were armed as the first batch, stated SOG.
Deputy Military Regional Commander of the Southern Military Region People’s Defense Army, Commander Sawsha reportedly attended the ceremony. The remaining 30 percent of the commitment to arm, will be supplied during the second time.
SOG column following NUG’s instructions is announced to speed up the activities of the military revolution and continue to fight against the dictatorship.
During this year, SOG joined the battles in KNLA Brigade (6) area such as Kawkaraik’s Phochimu Camp seizing battle, Kyaikdon Tactical Camp seizing battle, Yaytayouk Camp, Kweelontaing Camp, and Quilong Tai Camp seizing battle and participated in the battle to capture Sukali Camp in Myawaddy Township together with the revolutionary forces.
