RAKHINE STATE – The Arakan Army (AA) has completely captured all military bases in Gwa Township, confirmed Mr. Khaing Thukha, AA’s spokesperson.
AA has attacked and captured all junta military bases in Gwa Township, at around noon time on December 29. He said that AA chased and attacked all those military personnel who were running helter-skelter, and the junta army is attempting to re-enter Gwa Township.
“Regarding the situation of the battle for Gwa Town as of today, December 29, 2024, AA has successfully captured and occupied all the military bases of the terrorist fascist junta council in Gwa Town. The AA is pursuing and attacking all the military personnel who were running helter-skelter and retreating from Gwa Town. The terrorist junta army is trying to re-enter the vicinity of Gwa Town with additional reinforcements, so the fighting is still ongoing in some areas. The terrorist fascist military council’s air force is still bombing, and the navy is also firing heavy artillery from the waters near Kan Thar Yar coast in Ayeyarwady Division,” he explained.
The AA has now captured 14 towns in Rakhine State, and only 3 towns remain to be captured: Sittwe, Munaung and Kyaukpyu.
