CHIN STATE – Although Chin Brother allies including Chin State Defense Forces (CDF)- Mindat have already occupied the town of Mindat, Chin State Mine clearance will be prioritized to ensure that there is no harm to the people due to the remnants of the war, said Salai Yawman, an official of the People’s Administration of the People’s Administration Body.
On December 21st, Chin Brother Allies was able to take over Mindat, and Salai Yawman said that the administration of the city could not be carried out at the moment.
“The first priority is to clear the landmines in the city. Then, to clear the roads with undergrowth and mines, the first priority is to clear the mines. Then let the people who would come to see their homes. What I want to say is that if the mines are still not cleared, if people return home and look, the mines will explode and people will be killed and injured again,” Salai Yawman said.
They are also working to bring water supply to the city to make it convenient for the residents to return. He said that he will work through clarification and implementation of law and order step by step.
“Gradually, step by step, we will clear it. After clearing it, we will allow entry. We plan to allow it and go back to lively as before,” Salai Yawman said.
He said that currently more than 200 houses were destroyed due to the junta council’s air attack, the heavy weapons and deliberate arson in Mindat.
He said that to be able to help the people fleeing the war, including these homes being destroyed the resettlement work will be carried out step by step.
The CDF Mindat also released photos of the destruction of public homes by the junta Council in Mindat, where many houses were damaged due to attacks and fires.
In addition, the CDF has prohibited people from entering Mindat. Due to the continued airstrikes, the CDF Mindat has informed the people not to enter and passes through the town without permission.
