KACHIN STATE- A Kachin military source said that there had been a fierce battle near the 7-mile village of Bamaw Township last Saturday (October 12) and the military council troops burned the locals’ homes.
On October 12, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the Military Council Army had a fierce battle near the village of 7 Miles, and the military forces reportedly took a fall.
“Yes. Min Aung Hlaing’s (Military Council) troops burned down the houses in 7 miles area, Bamaw.
There had been an intense battle between 6 and 7 mile areas. I don’t know for sure but Min Aung Hlaing’s groups might have burned the villages as they were defeated,” a Kachin military source said.
A video footage of military council troops setting fire to the houses was released on social media. That video footage was reportedly taken by the KIA drone forces.
After the KIA captured the Infantry Battalion (437) in Moemauk Township on August 19, which is important for the security of Bamaw Township, the military council has been launching re-offensive attacks between Bamaw and Moemauk.
Even though the military council used aviation forces in addition to the joint offensive by infantry and military tanks and heavy weapons (backup), the KIA joint forces resisted the attack and the junta forces were unable to move forward.
