KARENNI STATE – An information officer from the Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF) Central warned that the junta light infantry 422 is dropping chemical weapons using drones during the battle in Mobye at the border of Shan and Karenni States.
During the battles on December 7 and 8, junta light infantry 422 reportedly used S-PHOS brand chemical gas tablets in their attacks on Karenni revolutionary forces in Mobye.
The tablets, after being dropped from drones, produced toxic gases causing nausea, dizziness, vomitting, drowsiness and loss of strength in the revolutionary soldiers who inhaled the gas. Investigation at the sites of the attack confirmed that S-PHOS tablets were used in the attack.
“They were dropped by drones around the site of the battle. Our comrades suffered from symptoms mentioned in the statement. We’d like to urge the other revolutionary forces to be cautious as the junta council has started using chemical gases,” said the information officer from KNDF.
S-PHOS brand 560 chemical gas tablets are chemical gas producing tablets used to gas the produce, with the recommended dosage of 2-5 tablets per tonne of non-food crops, 2-3 tablets per tonne of crops and seeds, and 1-2 tablets per a rat or mole nest, according to an agricultural company.
As such, KNDF advised the public to curb their curiousity and flee to safety if they are in the area of battles or if they see drones flying around in their area.
As the junta forces and Karenni revolutionary forces are frequently clashing on the Pekhon-Mobye-Loikaw Road, the junta council has increased attacks using drones and even started using chemical weapons, and thus KNDF urged to remain vigilant.
