KACHIN STATE – KHRW (Kachin Human Rights Watch) urged the International Criminal Court (ICC) on January 12 to take swift and effective action for the war crimes committed by the junta council, including the aerial bombardment of two Shwe Mhaw (gold extraction places) in Danai Township that killed about 20 people, including children.
On January 11, a junta jet bombed Lapukha Shwe Hmaw and Sam Lon Shwe Hmaw in Danai Township, killing about 20 people, including children, and injuring about 10, according to KHRW.
“The terrorist junta council has deliberately violated the existence of the human race against the people,” it said.
KHRW requests that the International Criminal Court (ICC) take immediate and effective action for the war crimes committed against the public.
Colonel Naw Bu, the information officer of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) said that 15 people were killed and 10 were injured in the airstrike according to initial reports.
KHRW announced on January 2 that there were 142 civilian deaths and 167 injured during the conflicts and 219 people were arbitrarily arrested by the junta council in the entire Kachin State during 2024.
To stop the airstrikes of the junta council, the Blood Money Campaign (BMC) requested the international companies of ASEAN and UN member states to stop providing jet fuel and related equipment on January 10.
