SHAN STATE – Mr. Khun Yein Yan, the information officer of Pa’O National Liberation Army (PNLA) reported that the junta subordinate PNO militia abducted Mr. Phyar Done Kyaw, the chief of Twaypu Village in Hsihseng Township, southern Shan State.
The village chief was abducted by PNO militants at his house around 11 p.m. on December 7 and it is not known where he is being detained and there have also been no contact.
“The junta subordinate militia abducted the village chief of Twaypu Village. There have been no contact. We heard that he is still not released. The village chief was elected democratically by the residents of the village. This kind of action is the same as killing democracy. It also raises concerns about the safety and wellbeing of the village chief,” said Mr. Khun Yein Yan.
It is said that the residents of the village are trying to find out where the village chief, Mr. Phyar Done Kyaw is detained.
The terrorist junta council and its subordinate PNO militia had fired heavy weapons into Twaypu Village on April 8, killing one student and injuring two.
