MYANMAR – The terrorist junta council’s conscription drafting team ordered to collect the data of women eligible for conscription in order to launch the first draft of women, according to a military source in Nay Pyi Taw.
It is said that the data to collect data of women for conscription was issued on January 1 and that the first batch of women will be drafted soon.
Women over 25 and about to turn 27 will be prioritised for this first batch and women in the eligible age range but are married or have children will be exempted.
“For now, we are told that the first batch of women will be drafted in February but there has been no official notice. They have told us to collect the data of women between 18 and 27 by February 11. It is almost certain that women will be drafted for military service soon,” said the Nay Pyi Taw source.
The data of women eligible for conscription are also currently being collected in Yangon Division.
“The data of both women and men eligible for military conscription are being collected in the townships and wards of Yangon. For women, we are told to prioritise those who are about to turn 27,” said a Yangon Division General Administration source.
The terrorist junta council’s Defense Ministry enacted the civilian conscription act on January 23 and the act contains items including restricting conscription eligible men and women from leaving the country.
