SHAN STATE – TNLA announced that three civilians were injured by junta heavy artillery shelling in Sammasel Village, Nawnghkio Township, northern Shan State.
Around 12:30 p.m. on December 9, junta forces on Thayetkone Hill fired three rounds of heavy artillery into Sammasel Village. One of the shells landed in the compound of No. 1 Sugar Mill in the village and the other two landed right beside the sugar mill, injuring two men and one woman, all staff at the sugar mill. It is said that the two men were injured in their heads while the woman was injured in her thigh. Moreover, two cars and several houses were also reportedly damaged.
TNLA has advised the public to be vigilant as the junta council is intentionally carrying out air and artillery attacks without the presence of battles to disrupt the daily lives of civilians.
The junta council has been targeting civilians and bombing Nawnghkio daily and as a result, 17 civilians were killed, 26 were injured and multiple houses were damaged in Nawnghkio during November.
