SAGAING DIVISION – The atrocious junta army bombed with its military aircraft in the area around Khampat Town in Tamu District, at 10:05 a.m., on January 22.
“The junta dropped two more bombs. I don’t know why they are doing so. There is nothing special on the ground,” said a local.
The junta’s fighter jet reportedly flew over the town of Mawleik Town to bomb Khampat.
It was the fifth airstrike in a week, starting on the night of January 16.
The airstrike attacks occurred on January 16, January 18, January 20, January 21 and the morning of January 22. Locals said that at least ten powerful bombs, including 500-pound bombs, were dropped in those five airstrike attacks.
Locals said two civilians, including a 3-year-old child, were killed and six others injured in the aerial bombing on the night of January 16. A 4-year-old child was killed and 20 houses were destroyed in the airstrike attacks on January 18, the Interim Political Steering Committee of Tamu said in a statement on the morning of January 22.
No casualties were reported in the attacks on the nights of January 20 and 21, and it has not yet been confirmed whether there were any casualties in the attack on January 22.
