YANGON DIVISION – Local people reported that the junta forces abducted ten young men who left their homes to come and work at Kyatphyukan Village in Hmawbi Township and took them to light infantry battalion 313.
At around 8:30 p.m. on December 30, Hundred-household Chief Nga Pwae and terrorist junta soldiers raided the dormitory of the workers to check guest list, forced the young men to kneel and draw lots, then abducted the ten young men selected and took them to light infantry 313 after telling them they have been conscripted. The abducted young men have left their hometowns to come work there and are from low income households.
The wife of one of the abducted young men has only recently just given birth and is still in the postpartum period.
Light infantry 313 is located at Thandaypin Village on the Yangon-Pyay Road in Hmawbi Township.
“Hundred-household Chief Nga Pwae and soldiers raided the workers’ dormitory at Kyatphyukan Village around 8:30 p.m. on December 30, saying it’s to check guest lists. They then made the young men draw lots then took the ten who drew the lots to light infantry 313. The raided dormitory was home to families of workers who left their hometowns to come work here. The workers are only daily wage labours. One of the abducted young men is a construction worker and his wife is a housemaid. The wife just gave birth recently and is still in the postpartum period,” explained a resident.
It is said that Hundred-household Chief Nga Pwae from Kyatphyukan Village would collect 3,000 Kyats from the houses in the village every week for guest list fees and would frequently oppress and bully the residents.
