KARENNI – Some Karenni military sources said that almost all of the 80th Infantry Battalion under the 66th Division of the Junta Council were killed in the battle near Limphonle village, Loikaw Township.
Yesterday (November 26th), in the battle that started at around 6:00 a.m., the 80th Infantry Battalion, which entered the village of Limphonle from the side of Moebye’s Myo Kone Thar was reportedly blocked and attacked by a group of Karenni troops.
“Only eight of the battalion of 66th Division could escape. 19 were captured alive. The rest were all dead,” said the above source.
Mawi, the deputy commander of the Karenni National Defense Force KNDF, also announced on his social network that “The family of Captain Lin Zaw of the 80th Infantry Battalion under the 66th division can cook the Mohinga (it is a custom to cook and feed the guest in funeral in Myanmar). In fact, almost the entire 80th battalion has to cook. They will have to cook together.”
The 80th Infantry Battalion is under the division (66) of Bago Division which is based in Inma township, Pyi District.
Subordinate battalions of the 66th Division had already suffered for the whole regimental casualties in Karenni State, and the junta council had to frequently remove and appoint 66th Division commanders.
To get back the territory they lost in Karenni State, the junta council has been maneuvering from the Hsihseng and Pinlong along with the PNO/PNA Pa’O militia since the middle of this year.
Currently, there is fierce fighting almost every day in Moebye and Phekon townships, which are bordering Southern Shan State and Karenni State.
