REPUBLIC OF KOREA – A discussion was held at the National Parliament building in South Korea regarding future actions against China’s continued interference in the internal affairs of Myanmar.
The discussion was held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on November 25 at conference hall no. 7 of the parliament building and covered Myanmar’s Spring Revolution and China’s interferences, their effects and opinions.
The discussion was chaired by MP Lee Yong Seon, who has consistently supported the revolution in Myanmar, and seven MPs, and led by Professor Baek Ung Hun of the Asia NGO Information Centre from Sungkonghoe University.
Professor Choi Jeong Hwi from the Asia Study Department and Professor Bae Gong Chan, the former head of the International Affairs Study Department, of the Seoul University, Professor Lee Yu Bi from the East Asia Study Department of Sungkayul University, Professor Jang Jun Yong from the South East Asia Study Department of the University of Korea, Political Science Doctorate student Chan Bi Jal from the University of Seoul, and Journalism Doctorate student Ko Khant from Bugayong University presented their publications during the discussion and MFDMC Chair Zaw Moe Aung, CDM Captain Lin Htet Aung and MFDMC representatives were also reported to have attended.
The discussion covered the effects and counteractions to Chinese interference in Myanmar affairs from all angles and the main topics were on the potential impact of China’s political and economic interference on the revolution and Myanmar democracy movement; the strategy for the Myanmar revolution to pass the interference from China with assistance from the international community; and the practical involvement of Korea and the international community in the restoration of democracy in Myanmar.
The discussion was an important opportunity to analyze the Myanmar revolution and the role of China from various angles and to study the future trends of the Myanmar democracy movement.
