MON STATE – Four Mon revolution forces have joined hands to form Yamanya Column, aiming to fight against the junta council forces across Mon State, said Dr. Thiri Mon Cham, the spokesperson of the column.
The Mon Liberation Army (MLA), Mon National Liberation Army (MNLA-AD), Mon State Defence Force (MSDF) and Mon State Revolution Force (MSRF) issued a joint statement on January 19 that the four organisations met on January 17 at a liberated area and established the Yamanya Joint Column to carry out the joint operations of the four organisations.
“We also have plans for military operations across Mon State that will be carried out under this Yamanya Column,” said Dr. Thiri Mon Cham, adding that the column will also be cooperating with the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and People’s Defence Force (PDF).
Dr. Thiri Mon Cham also urged the veteran Mon Armed Organisation, New Mon State Party (NMSP) which has yet to join in the revolution against the junta council, to abandon the discussion channel with the junta council at the present time.
“We would like to urge that now is the time to let go of the discussion route and actively join the armed revolution route alongside Mon revolution forces and other ethnic revolutionary organisations in the Spring Revolution for national liberation,” said Dr. Thiri Mon Cham.
MSDF, part of the Yamanya Column, also issued a recruitment notice on January 19, saying they are welcoming new comrades to join the battle for the eradication of military dictatorship.
“We, as MSDF, are inviting the young people to join in the final battles of the ongoing Spring Revolution. Now, fighting is intensifying in several regions of Mon State. In addition, this is also an invitation for the young people to actively participate in the military operations that will be accelerated across Mon State,” said Dr. Thiri Mon Cham, who also serves as a Battalion Commander of the MSDF.
It is said that the recruitment is not just limited to Mon people but all ethnic races including Mon, Karen and Pa’O, and that there are currently young people from other regions including Yangon and Mandalay Divisions serving in the MSDF in addition to the natives of Mon State.
The Mon Armed Forces that rose up during the Spring Revolution including the MSDF have been cooperating with the revolution forces including the KNLA and PDF to battle against the junta council.
