CHIN STATE – Four junta soldiers in Tedim and one of them who brought along his weapon will be rewarded 10 million Kyats, said Mr. Htaung Pu, the commander in chief of CDF CDM Siyin.
Junta soldiers Sit Paing Phyo from infantry battalion 268, Aung Pyae Phyo and Darl Done Hlyan from Myoma Police Station, and Yar Zar Htet from infantry battalion 269 reportedly contacted CDF CDM Siyin and surrendered with a weapon and ammunition on December 17.
“One of them, we went to collect in the town on the 17th. The other three have been with us for around three months. The former surrendered to us after contacting through those three. He also brought his weapon. We are keeping them at our base. Yar Zar Htet, Aung Pyae Phyo and Darl Done Hlyan, they didn’t bring weapons. It was because they didn’t have a chance. Now the most recent one, we had to go into the town to collect him after he made contact with Yar Zar Htet’s group. He brought his weapon so we awarded him 100 lakhs. We have encouraged more to contact us, as there are more people who wish to do the same. Even if they remain there, they will eventually have to face us. They also told us that they are not happy there in the army. But some are unable to leave either because they have no contacts or because they also have family in the army base. After establishing contact with us and if they manage to get out of the army base, we will go and collect them at their location, whether it’s in the city or anywhere,” said CDF CDM Siyin Commander in Chief Htaung Pu.
It is said that the junta soldier who surrendered with his weapon will be awarded 10 million Kyats and it is further informed that any member of the junta council wishing to surrender can contact them, that they will be picked up in the city or any location and delivered to any destination of their choice with arrangement for employment, and that they will be taken care of.
