KARENNI STATE – Four conscripted soldiers from Bawlakhae based Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 429 brought three weapons and entered the legal fold in Loikaw Township, reported Information Officer Lin Lin from Loikaw Local PDF.
The four conscripted soldiers were reported to have brought three weapons, ammunitions, cartridges and mines and surrendered to Loikaw Local PDF in the early morning of January 29.
“Most of the people who entered the legal fold are from Bago Division. They are conscripted civilians. Three were from the third batch of conscription and one from the fourth batch. They were abducted. They have been (in the army) for around eight months if you count the training period. We urge more to join the legal fold. We will welcome them warmly and provide them safety,” said Information Officer Lin Lin.
It is said that the four junta soldiers were abducted and forcibly conscripted after the conscription law was announced. Most of the junta troops are said to be in low morale. Loikaw Local PDF said they are keeping those who entered the legal fold in safe places and Information Officer Lin Lin extended the invitation to more junta forces to enter the legal fold and added that their freedom to choose according to their desire will be respected.
Loikaw Local PDF stated that they will warmly welcome the officers, soldiers and Non CDM employees who will surrender to the People’s Defence Forces and promised to provide them safety and protect their wishes.
