KACHIN STATE- According to the military news, the fighting continued fiercely since the early morning of December 8th, the fifth day of the battle between junta forces and Kachin Independence Army (KIA) joint forces in Bhamo Town.
The KIA joint forces had occupied fifteen Military Council camps on the first and second days of the operation. In the following days, they were able to capture more military deployments and camps, said a Kachin military source.
“More than 15 places where the military council stationed were seized. Since the battle is still ongoing in the city, we can’t report the exact places for security reasons,” said a military news source.
On December 4, the Military Council’s No. (21) Operation Command Headquarters (SaKaKha-21) started firing heavy weapons on the outskirts of Bhamo, and the KIA counter-fired with 122 mm launchers, the news source reported.
“The remaining people in the town should be careful,” the military source warned those residents who have not yet been able to flee the war.
On the fourth day of the operation, the KIA chased down the military council troops that retreated from 6 miles between Bhamo and Momauk Towns and reportedly captured the prisoners of war and some weapons.
The details of the POWs and ammunition seized are still under investigation.
Moreover, on the night of December 6, the military council carried out an aerial bombardment with Y12, which hit the area where their troops were held captive by the KIA. The deaths and injuries of the prisoners of war by the air strike are still under investigation, stated the news source.
