RAKHINE STATE – Local news sources reported that there was an exchange of fire after the Arakan Army (AA) fired heavy weapons at the junta navy ships on the sea near Sittwe.
On the night of December 22, AA fired heavy weapons at the junta ships near the mouth of Kaladan River near Sittwe, leading to an exchange of fire which raised concerns among the residents of Sittwe and it is said that junta council is making major preparations for war in Sittwe.
Moreover, it is said that the junta forces blocked off and searched three wards in Sittwe around December 22 midnight after the exchange of fire and the junta air force also carried out bombing attacks between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m., according to the residents.
Currently, the junta council is said to be carrying out stricter searches, patrols and security checks, inspecting the houses they find suspicious.
