The leader of the Ye Bilu Group has confirmed that all military council soldiers fled when their group attacked a military outpost located at the entrance of Kondoo village in Ye Township, Mon State, on March 11. The outpost was situated on a road frequently used by local civilians, where the military council forces had set up blockades using stone trucks and were conducting inspections of civilians. This checkpoint had been a significant obstacle for local residents, with the military council forces restricting movement and conducting arbitrary searches.
According to the Ye Bilu Group leader, the military council forces had been blocking the road for an extended period, only allowing motorcycles to pass while prohibiting vehicles and conducting forceful seizures. The Ye Bilu Group had previously engaged in combat at this location, and in this recent attack, the military council soldiers fled without offering any resistance, leaving behind even their uniforms. The resistance group successfully captured the outpost and subsequently destroyed it by burning. The military council forces had been using this checkpoint to extort money from civilians and confiscate their possessions through forced seizures.
The military outpost at the entrance of Kondoo village had been a major source of hardship for local residents, severely restricting their daily movement. The military council forces regularly conducted unlawful inspections, demanded money, and forcibly seized property from civilians passing through the checkpoint. The successful attack by the Ye Bilu Group has now cleared the way for local residents to move freely through the area. This operation represents a significant victory for the local resistance forces and provides relief to the civilian population who had been suffering under the military council’s oppressive control of the area.
