
Local residents reported that a woman in her 50s was killed when the military council conducted an airstrike on Samin Chan Model Village in Kani Township, Sagaing Region, without any ongoing battle in the area. The incident occurred around 2:30 PM on August 31, when military aircraft dropped two bombs on the southern part of the village, directly hitting the house of U Kyi Hla. His wife, Daw Kyun Sein, aged 50, died instantly in the bombing.
According to local residents, there was absolutely no fighting in the area when the military conducted the airstrike, making it an unprovoked attack. The aircraft that conducted the bombing reportedly took off from Meiktila Air Base, and locals reported that the military has been carrying out continuous airstrikes throughout Kani Township. The bombing completely destroyed one house and killed one cow. Samin Chan Model Village is located approximately 6 miles south of Kani town and is designated as a model village in the area.
In a similar incident on the same day, at around 1:15 PM, the military council also conducted an unprovoked airstrike on Nga Tharaw village in the Yesagyo Township’s river island area of Magway Region. This attack resulted in the immediate death of three civilians, with another injured person later succumbing to their wounds. The military council continues to conduct airstrikes on civilian areas where there are no ongoing battles, targeting innocent civilians in their villages.
