The Ministry of Defense under the National Unity Government has announced the successful capture of weapons following an attack on a military council outpost in Zeetaw village, Bago Township, Bago Region. According to the official statement, the operation was carried out by Battalion 3701 under the Regional Military Command (Bago) of Operation Area 2 at approximately 2 AM on May 18. The attack on the military council’s forward security outpost resulted in intense fighting and engagement between the opposing forces.
During the operation, resistance forces seized a significant cache of weapons from the military council, including two G-4 rifles, two G-3 rifles, one G-2 rifle, and nine M-1 carbine rifles, totaling fourteen weapons. Additionally, they captured various ammunition and related military equipment. Following the attack, the National Unity Government forces completely cleared and destroyed the military council’s security outposts in the area. This attack represents one of several offensive operations conducted by National Unity Government forces in the Bago Region, further weakening the military council’s grip on the area. Such operations are considered crucial in protecting civilian security and rights, particularly given the military council’s ongoing campaign of violence and oppression against local populations. The successful seizure of weapons and destruction of the outpost marks a significant tactical victory for resistance forces in their ongoing effort to challenge the military council’s control and protect civilian populations in the region.
