
The People’s Defense Force Military Region 1 has officially announced the seizure of 6 military corpses, 9 weapons, and ammunition following an attack on a military column in Tamu Township, Sagaing Region. The conflict began on August 5 when a military column of approximately 80 personnel, comprising forces from Infantry Battalion 228 and militia groups from Hann Pyint Aung village, launched an offensive against Nanmonthar village in Tamu Township. Revolutionary forces engaged the military column in combat, forcing them to retreat on August 8.
During the series of battles, revolutionary forces captured 6 military corpses, 9 weapons, and various ammunition from the military side. More than 20 military personnel were reported injured in the fighting. The revolutionary forces suffered 5 casualties and lost 3 weapons, according to official statements. Following significant losses, the military responded on August 8 by launching airstrikes on Nanmonthar village’s monastery, using a Yak-130 aircraft from Tada-U Air Base to drop two 250-pound bombs. Additionally, they deployed a MIG-29 fighter jet from the same base to release cluster bombs and utilized OWA-type suicide drones in their attacks.
The defensive operation against the military offensive was carried out through coordinated efforts of multiple revolutionary forces, including Tamu District Column, Mawlaik District Column, Kale District Column, along with KNA (B), NLA, and CNA forces. This battle represents an effort to protect local civilians from military oppression and maintain regional stability. The seized weapons and ammunition have been secured by revolutionary forces and will be used for future operations in support of the public cause.
