Despite declaring a 20-day ceasefire, the terrorist military council has been conducting aerial bombardments using armed helicopters on villages in Kani and Thaung Tha townships, according to officials from the Dragon Brothers Task Force (DBTF) and Thaung Tha Township Public Movement Committee. On April 3rd at around 2 PM, the terrorist military forces attacked Mutho village and Taung Pyauk village in Kani township using armed helicopters, forcing local residents to flee their homes. The DBTF official confirmed that five separate bombing runs were conducted during the attack, though the extent of civilian casualties could not yet be verified.
Similarly, villages in Thaung Tha township, Mandalay Region, were also targeted by the terrorist military’s helicopter gunships. At approximately 2:28 AM on April 3rd, armed helicopters from Meiktila Air Base conducted an attack on Yay Kyaw village in Thaung Tha township, dropping nine bombs. The airstrikes destroyed school buildings in Yay Kyaw village, though fortunately no civilian casualties were reported. A representative from the Thaung Tha Township Public Movement Committee condemned the military council’s actions as extremely cruel, noting that while they had announced a ceasefire on one hand, they continued to conduct aerial attacks against innocent civilians on the other.
The terrorist military council had been carrying out continuous airstrikes across the country following the earthquake on March 28th. They subsequently announced a temporary 20-day ceasefire period from April 2nd to April 22nd in an evening announcement on April 2nd. However, in reality, they have continued their violent attacks against civilians. The military council’s actions demonstrate their complete disregard for civilian lives and their own ceasefire declarations, as they persist with aerial bombardments of villages while claiming to observe a temporary cessation of hostilities. These attacks have resulted in the destruction of civilian infrastructure and forced local populations to flee their homes, highlighting the ongoing humanitarian crisis caused by the military council’s campaign of violence against its own people.
