
In the early morning of July 15, the military forces launched attacks on Myay Ni Kyaw village, Hlusin Kon village, and Kyoe Pin Wine village in Pauk Khaung Township, Bago Region. The military first entered and opened fire in Myay Ni Kyaw village around 3 AM, followed by an attack on Kyoe Pin Wine village at 5:30 AM, according to local residents. Subsequently, at 6:30 AM, the military forces advanced into Hlusin Kon village with continued firing. These brutal military attacks have forced local civilians to flee for their lives amid heavy rainfall.
The military’s assault resulted in one civilian death from artillery fire, and upon entering the villages, the military forces engaged in looting valuable possessions and burning down houses. Villagers were forced to flee without being able to take their personal belongings, focusing solely on escaping with their lives through the heavy rain. While they have sought refuge in locations as far as possible from the military, they are facing significant hardships due to the monsoon season, particularly with basic necessities and shelter.
The military has termed this operation as a ‘clearance operation’ in Pauk Khaung Township, and revolutionary forces report that military tensions in the region have escalated. Local civilians continue to face challenges with food supplies and accommodation during this rainy season, while being forced to seek safer locations due to the military’s violent attacks. The ongoing military operations have created a humanitarian crisis in the area, with displaced villagers struggling to find secure shelter and basic necessities while enduring harsh weather conditions.
