In Nat Htamin village of Min Hla Township, Bago Region, village administrator Thein Naing Soe, who had been forcing young people into military service and arresting those who couldn’t pay military service fees, was killed in an attack by resistance forces. On March 8 at approximately 11:45 AM, combined forces from Thayarwaddy District Battalion 3802’s Units 2 and 3, along with Min Hla Township People’s Defense Force, entered his residence and carried out the operation. He was shot three times in the head and died instantly.
The deceased administrator, also known as Ngay Lay, had been forcibly collecting money from local residents under the pretext of military service fees. He was known for reporting to the military and arranging arrests of impoverished civilians who couldn’t pay these fees. He also provided false information to the military junta, leading to the arrest of innocent civilians. According to a PDF official from Thayarwaddy District, the attack was carried out because he had been challenging the revolutionary forces while oppressing local residents.
Due to the administrator’s actions, local residents had been forced to flee their homes and suspend their livelihoods, leading to severe economic hardships. The Thayarwaddy District PDF has announced that they will continue to target the military junta and their supporters who cause suffering to civilians and revolutionary forces. They have warned civilians to avoid staying near military-affiliated individuals and locations. The PDF emphasized that this operation was part of their ongoing effort to protect civilians from military oppression and those who enable it through local administrative positions.
