The Information Officer of the Inntakaw People’s Defense Force has confirmed that Kyaw Htoo, a village administrator who was forcibly collecting military service fees in Kyin Paing Kwin village, Inntakaw town, Bago Township, Bago Region, was shot and killed by revolutionary forces. The incident occurred around noon on March 5th on the Kyin Paing Kwin-Kyauk Tan road in Bago Township, where he was shot twice and died instantly at the scene.
The administrator had been collecting military service fees from villagers earlier that morning. After his death, his brother Tin Htun, who is the chairman of the military council-affiliated Union Solidarity and Development Party, brought military council troops into the village to conduct searches. Some villagers were arrested and taken to Bago city, though some have since been released. The People’s Defense Force has confirmed that all revolutionary forces involved in the operation have reached safety.
The deceased administrator Kyaw Htoo was targeted following complaints from villagers about his actions, which included threatening civilians with mandatory military service laws, collecting military service fees indiscriminately from both rich and poor villagers, participating in security patrols with soldiers and police, calling in military and police forces to arrest villagers for any issues, and acting as a proxy for the Kyin Paing Kwin administrator by oppressing local residents. The People’s Defense Force stated that they will continue to eliminate military council supporters while protecting the interests of the public and helping resolve their difficulties. They emphasized that they will not tolerate any actions that harm the welfare of civilians.
