USDP Party Chairman Khin Yi has officially announced during internal party meetings that the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) will win the upcoming election organized by the military council and form the government. During new member acceptance ceremonies, he stated that USDP is the only party strong enough to compete nationwide and will win in most constituencies, ultimately forming the government after the election.
Khin Yi claimed that USDP is the only political party capable of solving the current problems facing the country. He further stated that if USDP forms the government, all economic sanctions imposed on the country will be lifted, and they will receive recognition from ASEAN and the United Nations. He added that the international community would recognize the civilian USDP government that would emerge.
Regarding the current situation in the country, Khin Yi stated that the military is intensifying its territorial clearance operations and recapturing cities, claiming that those opposing the military have been militarily defeated. He asserted that while the military is recapturing cities, armed groups are no longer able to capture any cities or territories. He declared that by December, when the election is scheduled to be held, all major cities across the country will be back under their control. He also addressed the status of the National League for Democracy (NLD), stating that since the party has chosen the path of armed resistance, its role in mainstream politics has ended, and there is no possibility of the NLD re-emerging in the future.
