Four underage youths who attempted to join the People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Natogyi Township, Mandalay Region, have been safely returned to their parents and guardians, according to officials from the Myingyan District PDF. The incident involved two 15-year-old and two 17-year-old boys who had made contact with a revolutionary organization through social media, seeking to join as PDF members.
The youths arrived at the revolutionary organization on June 20th, where their underage status was discovered during the screening process. Upon this discovery, the organization immediately contacted the Myingyan District PDF to arrange for their safe return to their families. The Myingyan District PDF took custody of the minors on June 26th and successfully reunited them with their parents and guardians the following day, on June 27th.
The Myingyan District PDF operates in accordance with the Geneva Convention and prioritizes the safety and security of both children and their families. As an organization that works closely with the people, they maintain a strict policy against involving minors in military activities. The officials emphasized their commitment to protecting young people while continuing their resistance efforts. This incident demonstrates the responsible handling of underage recruitment attempts and the importance of maintaining ethical standards in revolutionary movements, even during times of conflict.
