
On August 8th, the Strike Committee of Villages along the Chindwin River in Salingyi Township, Sagaing Region, conducted an umbrella strike movement to commemorate the 37th anniversary of the 8888 People’s Uprising. During this movement, local residents carried white umbrellas to protest against the military dictatorship. The umbrella strike was organized to honor the historical significance of the people’s uprising that occurred on August 8, 1988.
The Strike Committee of Villages along the Chindwin River stands in solidarity with the people fighting against the military dictatorship and for democracy.
