In Yenangyaung Township, Police Station Commander Chanmyae Aung has been extensively involved in recruiting new soldiers, extorting money from those who refuse military service, setting up checkpoints at Pinchaungg Bridge to extort money from civilians, and committing acts of violence against local residents. Additionally, local military forces regularly conduct operations in villages to arrest young people and force them into porter service. Local residents report that these activities have become increasingly common and severe.
A market for trading new military recruits has emerged in Yenangyaung town, with the military, police force, and township, village, and ward administration groups collaborating to forcibly arrest young people and sell them into military service. This situation has forced many local youths to flee their homes, causing significant concern and anxiety among families in the area. The systematic nature of these forced recruitments and the involvement of various authorities has created an atmosphere of fear and instability in the region, with local residents reporting that these practices have become more aggressive and widespread in recent times.
