
A drone strike targeted the residence of Pyu Saw Htee leader Aung Gyi in Let Pan village, located along the Sittaung River in Waw Township, Bago Region. The attack, which occurred around 6 PM on March 18, resulted in the death of two soldiers and left seven Pyu Saw Htee members severely injured. The injured individuals were initially taken to Myit Kyoe Hospital before being transferred to Taungoo Hospital for further treatment. The strike took place while soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members were gathered at the residence.
Let Pan village is known to be one of the strongest Pyu Saw Htee strongholds among the villages along the Sittaung River, with more than thirty active Pyu Saw Htee members. The leader, Aung Gyi, has been notorious for repeatedly challenging local People’s Defense Force (PDF) members and has been implicated in various acts of violence in the region. The drone strike, carried out by the Taung Nyo column, represents a significant offensive operation aimed at maintaining regional stability, according to local sources.
