A drone strike carried out by the Taung Nyo column targeted the house of a Pyu Saw Htee leader named Aung Gyi in Let Pan village along the Sittaung River in Waw Township, Bago Region, resulting in the death of two military council soldiers. The incident occurred around 6 PM on March 18th when military personnel and Pyu Saw Htee members were gathered at the house of Aung Gyi, who had been challenging local People’s Defense Force (PDF) groups.
The attack resulted in two military council soldiers being killed and seven Pyu Saw Htee members sustaining severe injuries. The injured were initially taken to Myit Kyoe Hospital and subsequently transferred to Taungoo Hospital for treatment. Let Pan village is known to be the strongest Pyu Saw Htee stronghold among the villages along the Sittaung River, with over thirty active Pyu Saw Htee members. According to local sources, the Pyu Saw Htee leader Aung Gyi had repeatedly challenged local People’s Defense Forces in the area.
The Pyu Saw Htee groups operating in Waw Township in collaboration with military council forces have been responsible for threatening and oppressing local civilians while repeatedly attacking People’s Defense Forces. Military analysts note that this drone strike demonstrates the increasing military capabilities of local resistance forces. The Pyu Saw Htee groups, acting as proxy forces for the military council, have been instrumental in the council’s campaign of violence and intimidation against civilians who support the resistance movement in the region.
