A drone strike targeted the house of Pyu Saw Htee leader Aung Gyi in Let Pan village along the Sittaung River in Waw Township, Bago Region, resulting in the death of two soldiers and severe injuries to seven Pyu Saw Htee members. The incident occurred around 6 PM on March 18, when the Taung Nyo column conducted a drone attack on the house where soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members were gathered. The injured were initially taken to Myit Kyoe Hospital before being transferred to Taungoo Hospital for further treatment.
Let Pan village is known to be one of the strongest Pyu Saw Htee strongholds among the villages along the Sittaung River, with over thirty active Pyu Saw Htee members. The leader, Aung Gyi, has repeatedly challenged local People’s Defense Force (PDF) members and has been working in collaboration with the military council forces. Local sources indicate that this attack demonstrates the escalating conflict in the region. The Pyu Saw Htee group, working alongside military council troops, has been reportedly involved in oppressing local civilians and planning attacks against resistance forces.
According to local sources, the attack occurred during a gathering of military personnel and Pyu Saw Htee members at the residence. The drone strike was reportedly carried out in response to intelligence suggesting that the Pyu Saw Htee group, in cooperation with military council forces, was planning operations against local resistance forces. The incident highlights the ongoing tension between resistance forces and military-aligned groups in the area, with local analysts noting that such targeted attacks reflect the increasingly sophisticated capabilities of resistance forces in their fight against military council-affiliated targets.
