A drone strike targeted the residence of Pyu Saw Htee leader Aung Gyi in Let Pan village, located along the Sittaung River in Waw Township, Bago Region. The attack, which occurred around 6 PM on March 18, resulted in the death of two soldiers and left seven Pyu Saw Htee members severely injured. The injured individuals were initially taken to Myit Kyoe Hospital before being transferred to Taungoo Hospital for further treatment. The strike was carried out while soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members were gathered at the leader’s house.
According to a representative from the Waw Township People’s Defense Force (PDF), Let Pan village is known to have the strongest Pyu Saw Htee presence among the villages along the Sittaung River, with over thirty active members. The leader, Aung Gyi, has repeatedly challenged local People’s Defense Forces and has been actively collaborating with military council troops. The drone strike, conducted by the Taung Nyo column, was aimed at curtailing the activities of the Pyu Saw Htee group in the area.
Local resistance forces continue to monitor the movements of Pyu Saw Htee groups working in conjunction with military council forces in the region. They have indicated their readiness to conduct further operations if necessary to protect civilian safety and security. The People’s Defense Forces remain committed to defending local residents’ lives, properties, and well-being from threats posed by military-affiliated groups. The incident highlights the ongoing conflict between resistance forces and military-aligned groups in the area, as the struggle for civilian protection continues throughout the region.
