A representative from Battalion 15 in Pakokku District has confirmed that two novice monks and three civilians from Kan Ni Pyu Saw Htee village in Myaing Township, Magway Region, have fled oppression and sought refuge with the People’s Defense Forces. This incident, which occurred on May 30, demonstrates the ongoing insecurity faced by local residents under the control of Pyu Saw Htee groups affiliated with the military council.
According to those who fled, the situation in Kan Ni village had become untenable due to food shortages, security concerns, and growing discord among Pyu Saw Htee members. Battalion 15 of Pakokku District provided necessary assistance to the escapees and transported them to a safe location. For security reasons, the names of those who sought refuge cannot be disclosed, according to the battalion representative.
The People’s Defense Forces have urged civilians currently under the control of military council-affiliated Pyu Saw Htee groups to evacuate to safe areas as soon as possible. They have also announced their willingness to warmly welcome any Pyu Saw Htee members who wish to defect. Furthermore, they have warned that operations to capture Pyu Saw Htee camps will be conducted in the near future. These developments indicate growing fractures within the military council’s affiliated forces and highlight the deteriorating situation for civilians under their control.
