Two military council navy personnel who were injured during a clash in Kyunsu Township, Tanintharyi Region, died while being transported to Myeik, according to a representative from the Kyunsu Township People’s Defense Force. The incident occurred on March 13th when revolutionary forces intercepted a military council naval convoy near Won Taung village as it was approaching from the direction of Myin Twar and Shaw Taw Maw villages. The military convoy consisted of two warships, including Naval Vessel 114, two motorboats, and three smaller fiber boats.
Following the engagement, military council forces attempted to secretly evacuate two injured navy personnel by motorboat to Myeik, but the wounded soldiers died during transit. The military council typically attempts to conceal their casualties from the public, and in this instance, they tried to covertly transport the injured personnel. The revolutionary forces reported successfully withdrawing from the engagement without suffering any casualties. The People’s Defense Force maintains surveillance of military council naval movements to protect local civilians’ safety and property, as military forces often use waterways to access villages where they commit acts of violence and looting.
The Kyunsu Township People’s Defense Force, which conducted the operation, engages in such interceptive attacks to prevent military council forces from carrying out operations against civilian populations. Although the battle lasted only a few minutes, it proved to be an effective strike against military council forces. The People’s Defense Force continues to defend local communities from military council aggression while maintaining their commitment to protecting civilian lives and property. This incident demonstrates the ongoing conflict between revolutionary forces and the military council in the Tanintharyi Region, where waterways serve as crucial tactical routes for both sides.
