
A military convoy’s advance guard was attacked by the People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Tanintharyi Township, Tanintharyi Region, resulting in the death of two military personnel including a captain and a lance corporal, according to a spokesperson from the Tanintharyi Township People’s Defense Force. The incident occurred around 5:45 AM on March 12, when PDF members launched a mine attack on the advance reconnaissance team of a military convoy traveling from Tanintharyi town toward Theinkun village near Kammalein village.
Following the initial attack, a 30-minute firefight ensued between both sides, resulting in the death of a military captain and a lance corporal, with several other military personnel reported to have sustained injuries. The resistance fighters from the Tanintharyi Township People’s Defense Force were able to successfully withdraw from the area without suffering any casualties. The PDF stated that this operation was carried out with the aim of protecting local civilians and disrupting military movements in the area.
