Resistance forces conducted three consecutive days of drone strikes on military council positions and checkpoints in Ye-U town, Sagaing Region, from June 6-8, resulting in the death of two military council soldiers, according to a representative from YE-U Freedom Comrades. The attacks were jointly carried out by drone units of the People’s Defense Forces in Shwebo District, including YE-U Freedom Comrades, Warpyay Group, and the Mahura Buffalo People’s Defense Force of Ye-U.
On June 6 at 10:30 AM, resistance forces attacked three military council soldiers at the Kyarphyu roundabout checkpoint at the southern exit of Ye-U town using Fixed Wings drones, dropping three bombs. Later that evening at 6:20 PM, they launched another attack with two bombs targeting military council troops stationed at the Kyarphyu roundabout checkpoint and the Traditional Medicine Hospital. The following morning on June 7, they conducted another strike using three bombs against approximately 35 military council soldiers at the Gawi Garden checkpoint at the western exit of the town. On June 8, resistance forces carried out an additional attack with two bombs targeting military council troops holding a military service meeting at the Makyi Taw school.
During the three days of attacks, two military council soldiers were killed and several others were injured. Although the military council forces responded with four artillery rounds, the resistance fighters were able to withdraw successfully without any casualties. A representative from YE-U Freedom Comrades stated that they would continue fighting until the complete elimination of the military dictatorship system. The resistance forces launched these attacks in response to the military council’s ongoing violence against civilians in the region. The coordinated drone strikes demonstrate the growing capabilities of resistance forces in their fight against military occupation of civilian areas.
