Two military council soldiers were killed in a mine attack by revolutionary forces near Kinmon village in Chaung-U Township, Sagaing Region, on July 3rd, according to an official from the Burma Liberation Democratic Front (BLDF). The incident occurred when military council troops were conducting a patrol in the area during the afternoon hours.
The attack took place around 2:45 PM when military council soldiers were patrolling and firing small arms indiscriminately near a myapyugyi plantation close to Kinmon village. The Thanyawaddy Column’s Upper Myanmar Mine Unit, operating under Military Zone 3 of the Burma Liberation Democratic Front, launched a mine attack against the patrolling soldiers. The attack resulted in the immediate death of two military council soldiers, while the revolutionary forces were able to withdraw successfully without suffering any casualties.
An official from the Burma Liberation Democratic Front stated that military council troops regularly terrorize local civilians by firing heavy weapons and small arms near villages on a daily basis in an attempt to maintain control through fear. The official emphasized that revolutionary forces will continue to carry out attacks within their capabilities to stop such acts of violence and oppression against civilians. The successful mine attack demonstrates the ongoing resistance against the military council’s attempts to suppress local populations through force and intimidation.
