Two members of the military council forces, including one soldier and one Pyu Saw Htee militia member, were killed when the Justice Warriors Force attacked them while they were collecting electricity meter fees from Gaung Kwe Village in Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region. The incident occurred on March 22, when resistance forces ambushed the military council team that had departed from their Pyu Saw Htee outpost in Gaung Kwe Village to collect fees from Kan Village. During the operation, resistance forces successfully seized multiple weapons and military equipment.
According to a spokesperson from the Justice Warriors Force, the resistance fighters captured one MA-2 rifle, one carbine rifle, 160 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, and two motorcycles during the attack. The military council forces were targeted while they were attempting to collect meter fees from local residents, a practice that has been widely criticized as part of the military council’s systematic exploitation of civilians. The ambush was carefully planned and executed by resistance forces who had been monitoring the movements of military council personnel in the area.
The clash took place in the area between Gaung Kwe Village and Kan Village in Myingyan Township. The military council team had departed from their Pyu Saw Htee outpost in Gaung Kwe Village when they were attacked by resistance forces. Following the successful operation, all resistance fighters were able to withdraw safely from the area without suffering any casualties. These types of attacks are part of the broader resistance movement against the military council’s oppression of civilians, according to resistance forces. The incident demonstrates the continuing conflict between pro-democracy forces and the military council, which has been marked by numerous similar confrontations across the country as resistance groups continue to challenge the military’s control over civilian areas.
