Two soldiers from the military council forces who entered the Bago Yoma region in Minhla Township, Bago Region, died while swimming at Mukha Dam – one from a snake bite and another from drowning while they were intoxicated, according to local sources. The incident began on May 22 in the morning when approximately 100 military council troops entered the Bago Yoma area as part of their military operation.
Around 3 PM, the military column reached near Banbwekon village, which is located along the Seikanlun-Myochaung mountain crossing route. When they arrived at Mukha Dam, located about a mile away, the soldiers were reportedly drunk and decided to swim in the dam. During this time, one soldier died from a snake bite, while another drowned. The bodies of the two deceased soldiers were transported to Minhla town by hearse.
According to locals, Banbwekon village is only about a mile away from Mukha Dam, and the military council soldiers had been in the vicinity of the village since early morning. Regarding the incident, some locals believe that the deaths occurred because of actions that displeased the forest guardian spirits, with some spirit mediums reportedly becoming possessed during the aftermath of the incident.
Additionally, ongoing clashes continue between these military council forces and local resistance forces, with confirmed casualties on the military council’s side. The fighting continues to the present time, and the situation in the region remains tense according to resistance sources.
