
The People’s Independence Army has captured two newly recruited soldiers who fled from the Nat Ye Kan Mountain Strategic Post in Ngape Township, Magway Region, along with their weapons and ammunition. The capture took place on June 30 near the main radar control camp at Nat Ye Kan Mountain Strategic Post. The seized items from the two fleeing soldiers included four Inaga rifles, three hand grenades, one MA-1 rifle, one MA-3 rifle, seven ammunition magazines, 280 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, one military helmet, and one piece of equipment.
The captured soldiers were from Training Batch 5 at the No. 3 Training School in Naypyidaw and Yamethinn. Both soldiers are originally from Ayeyarwady Region. They were forcibly recruited into military service and were deployed to the Nat Ye Kan Strategic Post after completing their training. The People’s Independence Army officials confirmed that the captured soldiers are currently being held safely in accordance with prisoner of war laws. The two soldiers were among many others who have been forcibly recruited by the military council to serve in their forces.
A representative from the People’s Independence Army stated that those who have been forcibly recruited can contact the People’s Independence Army for assistance if they are deployed to combat zones. Furthermore, they announced that anyone who has been forcibly conscripted into military service can establish contact with the People’s Independence Army and seek refuge with the public. It has been reported that the military council continues to conduct forced recruitment campaigns across various regions and states of the country.
